If your car is picked up on or before December 31 in Texas, that’s your donation date for this tax year. With Rev Up Giving, powered by Heritage for the Blind, it takes about two minutes to start: complete the quick online form or call, get a call back within 1–2 business hours on weekdays, and schedule your free tow as early as the same day in many Texas metro areas. Once your pickup is on the calendar for December 31 or earlier, you’re on track for a 2024 deduction as long as the tow is completed as scheduled.
We know Texans are busy, especially around year-end. Whether you’re in Dallas–Fort Worth (Plano, Arlington, Frisco), Houston (Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands), Austin (Round Rock, Cedar Park), San Antonio (Alamo Heights, New Braunfels), El Paso, or the Rio Grande Valley, we make donating your car fast and local. Your vehicle doesn’t have to run, pass inspection, or have current registration. A licensed Texas tow partner meets you at your home, office, or ranch, handles the heavy lifting, and you sign the title at pickup. Heritage for the Blind, a real 501(c)(3), uses the proceeds to support people who are blind or visually impaired, and you receive the IRS-compliant paperwork for your taxes.

Year-end tax deduction facts
Your donation date is the pickup date
For IRS purposes, the date your vehicle is actually picked up and transferred—often reflected on the tow and title paperwork—is the donation date. A completed pickup on or before December 31 applies to that tax year.
Form 1098‑C documents larger deductions
If your vehicle sells for more than the IRS reporting threshold, Heritage for the Blind issues Form 1098‑C. This form shows the gross sale price, which is generally the amount you may claim as a charitable deduction.
Deduction usually equals the sale price
In most cases, the IRS limits your car donation deduction to the actual sale price received by the charity, not a price guide estimate. That sale amount appears on your 1098‑C or written acknowledgment.
You must itemize on Schedule A
To use a car donation as a tax deduction, you need to itemize your deductions using Schedule A instead of taking the standard deduction. Consult your tax advisor to see which approach is better for your situation.
30-day window for your receipt
After Heritage for the Blind sells your vehicle, they send your 1098‑C or written acknowledgment within 30 days of the sale. Keep this with your tax records as proof of your qualified charitable contribution.
